The hope of heaven brought him joy, and joy brought him strength, and so it would seem he was astoundingly enabled to labor on, accomplishing more than would ever have seemed possible in a single lifetime.
From “Desiring God” by John Piper, which he cited from J.I. Packer’s book “Richard Baxter on Heaven, Hope and Holiness.”
The hope of heaven brought him joy —
The hope of heaven brings me joy, and joy brings me strength … brings me strength to labor on.
I must labor on — right now, my 9-5 is solely “laboring on” but I will seek to find joy, hope and strength.
And I hope that someday someone will say of my life: She accomplished more than would ever have seemed possible in a single lifetime.
